From Tension to Unity: Conflict Resolution Strategies for Interpreters

Conflict is an inevitable part of any profession, including sign language interpreting. As interpreters, we have a responsibility to confront our colleagues when ethical or professional breaches occur. However, navigating these difficult conversations can be challenging, especially when emotions run high and conflicting perspectives are at play.

This breakout session will explore the art of conflict resolution within the interpreting profession. Through open dialogue and interactive activities, you will learn how to approach conflicts in a constructive and collaborative manner that leads to positive outcomes.

We will delve into the key principles of conflict resolution along with the physiological and intrapersonal demands that make it difficult. You will have the opportunity to practice these skills in a safe and supportive environment. Join us for an engaging and insightful experience as we explore how we can approach conflict that builds connections, strengthens relationships, and enhances our professional growth.
