The Midwest Conference on Deaf Education aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of professionals working with deaf and hard-of-hearing youth, from birth to 21 years old. By bringing together various stakeholders in the field, the conference fosters collaboration and the exchange of expertise, ensuring that participants are informed about the latest best practices in deaf education. This shared knowledge not only benefits educators and service providers but also empowers parents to support their children's learning and development.
The overarching goal of the conference is to improve the academic outcomes for deaf and hard-of-hearing youth, helping them to achieve their full potential. By equipping professionals with effective strategies and resources, we aim to facilitate the growth of these young individuals into productive members of both the Deaf community and society at large. Through this collective effort, we strive to create an inclusive environment that values and promotes the unique strengths of deaf and hard-of-hearing learners.
MWCDE promotes an environment of mutual respect free of discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, hearing status, or any other protected class.
